July Fun!

Apparently I am a little behind in my blog posts! I do document most of our adventures with a plenty of pictures, but I am not as good at coming home and updating our blog. Here's an overview of some summer fun in July!

4th of July- we had a great time at the parade and LOVED the picnic at Aunt Kathy and Uncle Donn's house. Cole is still loving the fireworks and tried out his first sparkler!

Pool Day! We haven't had the hottest summer here in Wisconsin, which I am TOTALLY okay with. We did have one day in the high 80s so we decided to head to Hoyt Park Pool (along with everyone else). Piper slept in my arms most of the afternoon and Cole LOVED swimming, going down the slides, and jumping in the deep end with Daddy!

Nature Center Fun! Havenwoods Nature Center has wonderful classes for kids every other Tuesday. Miss Beth does a fabulous job with the kids and Cole always enjoys her stories and activities. This month we learned all about Mr. Golden Sun and Butterflies!

Greenmeadows Petting Farm- If you haven't visited this petting farm it is an absolute must. Cole loves the animals, jungle gym, and of course the tractor ride. We were there about an hour after a baby goat was born. We watched as he took his first steps and started nursing. It was absolutely precious.

Dinosaur Discovery Museum- It has been the summer of the dinosaur! After reading the Magic Treehouse book about dinosaurs, Cole has really been into them. Especially the T-Rex. We went down to Kenosha to check out their Dino Discovery Museum. It is totally free and worth the trip. We finished the day visiting the Jelly Belly store- Cole thought it was pretty funny to eat beams flavored like dirt, grass and booger.

FISHING! Jim took Cole out for his first fishing trip. Mom was a little nervous for him to head out on the Big Lake, so they went to Pine Lake.

Waterford Balloon Fest- hot air balloons are one of my favorite things. We have gone to this festival the last two years, but this was the first time we were there for the lighting. At dusk they blow up all of the balloons and then light them as it's getting dark. It is a beautiful sight!

Mom's Accident- Unfortunately my mom was in a minor car accident in late July. The car was totaled, but she walked away with only three broken ribs. She's recovering nicely at home after spending several days at Froedert.

Happy Birthday Bumpa! My dad turned 77 years old this year. We wouldn't miss celebrating with him for the world! It was a crazy birthday for him because Mom was just coming home from the hospital...he did get a new car and he's getting a new hip in mid-August!

All in all it was a busy and fun July!! I'll try to stay on top of my posts in August!
