What Lives in a Rotten Log?
What lives in a rotten old log? That was the topic at the latest Havenwoods Nature Center class...Cole painted a cardboard tube to look like a log. As it was drying we listened to Miss Beth read a story about an old tree in the forest, then we dug into her "log" to see what type of animals live in or around these weathered beasts. Cole pulled out a beaver and instantly fell in love with the fuzzy little friend. Then we colored and cut out other animals and bugs to put into our logs before heading outside to dig for bugs, worms and other creepy crawly creatures. We captured these fellas in a container with a magify glass so we could get a closer look at them. Although it was a little chilly, the sun was out so we decided to take a walk on the trails before heading home for lunch. All in all it was another great day at nature class. We are already looking forward to the next one!
