Pine Cone Bird Feeder

With an overcast sky and much cooler temperatures, we used this morning as a perfect opportunity for a little art project. I pulled a few pine cones off our large pine tree in the backyard and made a mixture of peanut butter & shortening for our pine cone bird feeders.

Once I spread the mixture on the cones, Cole was ready to jump in with the bird seeds. He loved sprinkling them! Dad helped hang them by the other bird feeders and now we're anxiously waiting for birds to try them out. We think they're a little afraid of them at this point, but they'll figure it out soon enough- they're smart animals!
